The business
Apifonica automates the conversations companies have with candidates and customers. The platform covers everything from voice and text notifications to fully integrated solutions with an AI-powered voicebot, and it is customised to a client’s workflows rather than sold as a fixed product. In 2022 Apifonica acquired TENIOS GmbH, a German cloud communications provider with more than 2,000 customers internationally, adding Voice API, intelligent routing, speech synthesis and speech recognition.
Why we invested
Communications automation sits exactly where our operating experience is. Voice and messaging infrastructure is a business our partners have built before: it is technically demanding, commercially sticky, and — because it is embedded in a customer’s recruiting or support process — very difficult to remove once it works. Apifonica had the harder half of that already solved. What it needed was the capital and the M&A discipline to consolidate a fragmented European market rather than compete in it one client at a time.
What we have done
- Supported the acquisition and integration of TENIOS GmbH.
- Board representation and reporting structure.
- Access to operator and carrier relationships across the region.
Where it stands today
According to the company, the group is headquartered in Tallinn, operates in nine countries and handles more than 40 million automated conversations a month; Germany is served through TENIOS.
