Apifonica has acquired TENIOS GmbH, a German cloud communications provider serving more than 2,000 customers internationally. TENIOS supplies intelligent speech dialogue systems through a Voice API, together with intelligent routing, AI-based text-to-speech, speech recognition and speech-bot integration from a single source. Announcing the deal, Apifonica said TENIOS counted Ergo, Huawei, Teufel and Sunpoint among its customers, and described it as an associated partner of the Fraunhofer SPEAKER project, which is building a German-made AI platform for business voice assistants.
The rationale is product and geography in equal measure. TENIOS customers gain access to Apifonica’s automation services — voicebot, SMS and number masking — while Apifonica clients gain the telecom API layer TENIOS has built. Apifonica described Germany as a large and digitally driven market in which it could now serve customers from a local base.
