Evgeny leads Boxwood’s investment decisions and spends most of his time with founders on the engineering and infrastructure side of their businesses — network architecture, capacity planning, and the technical decisions that determine whether a company can scale without rebuilding itself.

Background

Evgeny has taken part in the creation and transformation of several telecommunications sectors: the liberalisation of long-distance and international calling, the development of ISPs and broadband home networks, the consolidation of the fixed-line and mobile operator market, the construction of fibre backbone transport networks, and the deployment of VoIP and CPaaS platforms.

Every stage of that work involved building services for mass consumer and business audiences. As a senior executive his career was linked to PeterStar, Petersburg Transit Telecom, MegaFon and MTT. Between 2006 and 2008 he headed the Department of State Policy in Information and Communication Technologies at Russia’s Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications.

As an entrepreneur and early-stage investor he has helped set up several technology and IT companies.

Beyond work

Evgeny takes long road trips as an auto-tourist and enjoys spending time with founders improving the engineering backend of their projects.
