In a post dated 24 September 2026, Apifonica says it has signed a memorandum with the Uzbek operator Uztelecom to set up a voice AI centre in the country. The signing was announced a day earlier at an artificial intelligence forum the operator held during ICT Week Uzbekistan in Tashkent. Apifonica’s founder and chief executive, Denis Shirokiy, signed for the company. He is also a Venture Partner at Boxwood.
The post describes two stages. Apifonica’s AI agent platform would be installed on Uztelecom’s Tier III data centres and would first take over first-line support at what Apifonica calls the country’s largest contact centre. Only after that would businesses be offered voice agents as a service. The figure of up to 65 per cent of inbound requests resolved by an agent comes from a talk at the forum by Kristaps Nelsons, a business development manager at Apifonica. It is a claim about the product in general; Apifonica reports no result from this project.
A memorandum is not a contract. The post gives no timetable, call volumes or commercial terms, and it quotes no one from Uztelecom. A sponsored article on the Uzbek news site Spot.uz, summing up the operator’s week, mentions the memorandum and says the operator signed more than 20 agreements over the four days.
